Double Take

Fairhope, Alabama author Joe Hilley released Double Take, a legal thriller published by RiverOak Publishing, in fall 2005. Double Take is available online and in bookstores everywhere. A sample chapter is available at www.joehilley.com.

Set along the Gulf Coast, Double Take continues the story of Mike Connolly, the down-and-out attorney you came to know in Hilley’s first novel, Sober Justice. Still sober, but struggling, Connolly defends a former police detective accused of conspiring to murder an heir to a shipbuilding fortune. Join him for a steamy tour of the South as Connolly faces corruption in high places—and low. And be prepared for a thrill.

Critics have offered early praise for Double Take. Best-selling author Cassandra King found “The exciting twists and turns of the plot kept me turning pages way into the night ...” James Abraham of the Charlotte Sun wrote, “Hilley delivers a second time as he effectively cloaks the old and honored theme of morality and God's forgiveness in a new and exciting style for our frenzied times.”

Hilley is a native Alabamian, born in Birmingham and reared in Grand Bay near the vast expanses of marsh grass and low country which provide the backdrop for his books. His previous novel, Sober Justice, was released to great acclaim last year. A third will be out in 2006.
